Another friend of mine...

This one took a long time because I couldn't get his right eye (left to the viewer) right. I eventually posted it along with his picture on a forum and I got some helpful advice.

Youve really taken off with your painting skills. Your use of colors on the face is really awesome. You really should spend more time composing your reference photos so they are not just mug shots but capture your subject in some kind of action. And as Ive said before, please lay off the flash, try and set up some 3 point lighting or take outdoor shots. You really should try and find some work in local publications, like local magazines.

Great work Doug. The hair is brilliant.I checked back on your grayscale picture for comparison, nice work up.

Thank you guys so much. I really appreciate the feedback and words of encouragement. This picture was taken when I was still in the class back in May I think. It'll be my last flash reference photo. The reference photo for the drawing of my friend I posted recently was taken in some nice outdoor light. I have another group of friends that I took pictures of when we went camping this summer in NC (all outdoors and a lot of nice green in the background). I've thumbnailed some of them and I can't wait to start sketching and painting those. Thanks again.
