Mahatma Gandhi colour

I've been working at this a lot today,finally came up with a colour scheme.

I did a preliminary sketch for this on holiday in India, and gave it to the tour guide who showed an interest in what I was doing. I was worried that I might have offended their national sensitivities, but he thought it was hilarious and showed it to all his friends during the holiday!

I now have a problem that I can't seem to find a colour photo of Gandhi, so I'll have to try and improvise.

Brandon Roy Value Study

I decided to do a black and white value study of my earlier sketch. Still not where I would like it to be as far as values and definition but it's coming along okay. Made a lot of adjustments from the original sketch to get a better likeness. Any advice on rendering teeth would be much appreciated.

Obama Sketch...

Thought I'd join in with the Obama drawing trend!

Drawing is a weird thing - I spent ages trying to nail a likeness the other day & couldn't get it how I wanted, and got a basic likeness really quickly today...

I did this illustration for my school's newspaper. I painted this the night of the election... talk about waiting till the last minute haha.

One of the hardest things I have to do as an editorial cartoonist is predict the outcome of elections. Newspapers need their cartoons today to publish tomorrow. Since it is widely believed that Obama will win, this was my gamble for my editorial cartoon today. But whether he wins or not, I had fun painting it.

Pat and Ian

This is Pat and Ian. Pat is a master yarn spinner who has been kind enough to teach my girlfriend how to spin. Ian is a farmer from way back in the day who has been kind enough to do fix it jobs on my girlfriends spinning wheel whenever it has been needed. These two are directly responsible for me being up to my eyeballs in fleece. So as a thank you I sketched these. they're a little on the soft side but these are traditional farming people who aren't expecting this so I wasn't about to try and push the features. Just kept it nice and cartoony. I do need to buy some different colour pencils though. Blue is the new Red according to Wall E.

Just finished this in time for the election!

I'm travelling to India next week so I'll look out for some Fakirs to draw.
