Dave Canfield revisited . . .
I had so much fun with my quick sketch of Dave that I decided to take it to the next level and push it a bit further. While painting I noticed areas that needed more attention, issues with the muscles and skull structure. This isn't the final, I will be adding more of the shoulders as well as his hands.
Dave is a movie critic here in Chicago, he's a huge fan of horror films, so I thought it appropriate to add some blood and stitches to make it a bit more fun. The final will most likely have some veins and other fun stuff added to the mix! Dave's a fun crazy guy, it's a lot of fun painting him!
Here's a few paintings I've done since finishing Jason's class...
I started the class in January and was new to digital painting at the time. It's awesome to really make leaps and bounds with your artwork and see others do the same.
What's really cool is everyone seems to be pushing their own styles and approaches but using the principles learnt in the class - I'm really looking forward to seeing more posts on this blog!!!

checking in
hey everyone, Im from the summer class. Good to see Tony Montano, Fat Jester and Idragosani here. Sorry I dont have any work to post, although Im able to do art on a whole new level thanks to Jason, I just dont have a handle on color, so Im limited to greyscale paintings. If anyone knows of any good online courses on color theory, let me know.
Hey Guys! I just finished my final piece for Jason's course... here it is. Hayao Miyazaki; founder and director at Studio Ghibli Japan. It ended up a little contrasty for my liking... but onwards and upwards. I find I learn so much from every new piece I do.
Where's everyone else final pieces? Share the love peeps!

New Student
Hello again
I took Jason's course over the summer and loved every minute of it! I haven't had a whole lot of time to do much more art after the class, except for a penciled sketch of Audrey Hepburn, because I am taking another online course -- not via schoolism, but via Berklee College. Wonder if I am the only one in this class who draws MIDI controller envelopes with a Wacom tablet :-)
Here's the Audrey Hepburn sketch (as she appeared in 'Robin and Marian'):

Happy Halloween!
Hey everyone...
Tony here... one of Jason's past students :) Just wanted to post a smorgasbord of my stuff on here... some a few months old and some newer. Jason's class really helped me see the Art of Caricature in an easy, simple, and fun way. All of my work has improved since taking this course. I enjoyed learning how to paint in Photoshop (never painted in Photoshop before this class, only in Corel Painter X), and learning how to see the unique qualities of someone's anatomy... great class altogether... thanks Jason! Hope to see more work on here soon :)
