Cristiano Ronaldo

Hello, my fellow Caricature people. This is my first post here in this blog. Wanna just share something I just did recently. It's Cristiano Ronaldo. There's 5 pro soccer players in the each series. So, this is series 1. Done 2 (Cristiano and Ronaldo), three more to go. Used the first painting technique that Jason taught, from greyscale to color. Feel free to check out my online gallery (It's in my profile info). Anyways, enjoy, take care ya'll and Cheers

Assignment #4

I did this one in oils on illustration board using burn siena, black and white.
Lots of fun and a great exercise.

A Local Guy

I was asked to do a caricature of this young man and his girlfriend. The photos i took of her were all on the blurry side so i just did him for now. I may got back and tighten things up the but the shirt was a pain in the butt. If you look close at the hat , I changed the MLB logo to a person singing into a microphone since i met the subject at a karaoke job, and he sings My Girl. A reference photo is below the caricature. The same post is on my blog. I hope it is legal to copy posts. I hate to type!

Andrew Lloyd Webber

I'm not quite sure if I pulled this off- I meant it to look like a marble bust, but I think it probably just looks like a greyscale painting. All part of the learning process.

Valu Sketch

I guess i was thinking sunny day when i was doing this. Mainly because of the shadows and the way Gary had been squinting his eyes.

My Funny Valentine

Every year for valentines day I give my girlfriend a sketch of one of her many "fake" boyfriends. Last year it was Christian Bale, the year before it was Jon Bon Jovi. A couple of days ago I heard a version of My Funny Valentine sung by Elvis Costello.
Viola.

Gordy, waiting for the Bus!

This is a preview of what's to come with my work in the future. I'm slowly working and developing my work in a "fine art" sort of way, painting large with oils and acrylics. Some will be exaggerated to an extent and others just stylized, but painted traditionally. I hope to have a show here in Chicago, one in New York and another in L.A., I'll be sure to share the info here once the shows are set in stone.

This is a practice painting, or "sketch painting", from this I will do a large oil. I'll be sure to share the process here.

Lesson @ Sketches

Still loving this. These were all done digitally, but my Wacom pen took a dive!!! and there is no place to get a new one!! It is still under warranty so i just have to wait. Now you may get to see some traditional stuff!

Assignment #2

In this one we had to draw Marco, Nate and Tony for our citizen sketches and then Rowan Atkinson (Mr. Bean) as our celeb.

I loved drawing Marco but had a tough time with Nate and Tony. And I tried numerous times for the likeness on Rowan before settling on what you see here. All in all I am happy with what I've done.

I'm sure I'll progress more through the next seven weeks.

On to value painting! (This is where I really need practice).

Skull Rock

I was inspired to do this by Jack Sparrows' famous quote that 'It's better to have rum and no money than money and no rum!' and the Johnny Depp/ Keith Richards connection.

Gray Study

Olympia Snow was mentioned in the news the last few days and we are on the lesson with Jason concerning gray scale studies so I did this. Hope you like it.

1st assignment

Here are some of my sketches for the first assignment.
Really good class, looking forward to the next assignment.

Rushmore...

Older version of him anyway. This took me three thumbnails in different positions than this and then I started sketching real loose until I wanted to detail.

I want to say that everyone's sketches and drawings from the first lesson are unbelievable. I envy you guys. It's the most fun I've ever had learning. Good luck with the class I and can't wait to see all the new stuff coming out. Keep posting. We all love to see the work.

Steve Harvey

Here's a caricature I did of comedian Steve Harvey. Anyone who has visited my blog has seen this caricature go through several adjustments. It seems like most my problems are found in the process of painting instead of at the sketching stage (I'm not sure if that is a good or bad thing). Nonetheless, I am actually pretty happy with this outcome. Comments and critques welcome.
